Medical School Being An AUC Student
I arrived in the island of St. Martin August 28, 2009. The climate was really hot and humid, 360 square miles, half French half Dutch, and an ocean full of blue water. Everything you can get in America you can get here, but way more expensive. The night sky is a deep dark blue. The stars are very much visible, unlike San Diego where you are lucky if you get to see one. Over all this place is beautiful.
The people here all want to be doctors, but at the same time they are still young, so they drink, go out, and look for someone they can date this semester.
The only way to get food or anything, is by taking a bus or renting a car. The bus is a dollar and the rental is 27 dollars, so is not too bad.
There is 12 Casinos in the Dutch side, they are illegal in the French side so there is none there. Prostitution seems to be legal, and the night life is cheap.
The medical school itself is not very big. My class is compose of 195 students from Canada, and everywhere in the U.S.A.
Everyone here wants to be in the Dean’s List, everyone wants to be a doctor, and everyone is very nervous about the first day of school.
More to come
